Traveling to Zurich

Leo Europa PreForum Travel Information and FAQ

Welcome to the Leo Europa PreForum 2027! Here, you will find information about traveling to Zurich by train, car, or air.

Air

Zurich Airport is close to the city and we will provide airport transfers to Zurich.

If you are traveling with Swiss or the Lufthansa Group, you can purchase discounted tickets by booking via this link.

Car

Zurich is located along the A1 highway and easily accessible from all neighbouring countries. Please note that tolls are required on Swiss highways. You can find more information here. Parking spaces are available at the hotel for a fee of CHF 30/night.

Train

Zurich Main Station (Zurich HB) is a major hub connected to the international rail network. There are regular direct trains from Germany, Austria, France and Italy. We will provide transfers from Zurich Train Station.

What travel documents do I need to enter Switzerland?

If you are an EU or EEA citizen, you can stay for up to 90 days within a 180-day period with only a valid passport or ID card. Similar rules apply if you can visit the Schengen Area without a visa.

If you need a visa, we can issue you a letter of invitation once your registration is confirmed.

The Department of Foreign Affairs provides information on entering Switzerland here.

What can I bring into Switzerland?

Since Switzerland is not part of the EU, customs checks are required when arriving from any country (except Liechtenstein) by train, car, or air. Please note that you must declare any products that exceed the duty-free allowance. More information is available on the website of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security.

Please note that you cannot bring any meat or dairy products into Switzerland if you are arriving from outside the EU or EEA.

Is “Roam like at home” available in Switzerland?

“Roam Like Home” is not available in Switzerland. Please check with your cell phone provider to see if your plan includes roaming in Switzerland.

Why do I need to provide health insurance details?

Although the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is valid in Switzerland, under local law not all costs are covered, and high co-payments may be required for emergency services or medication, for example. Therefore, we ask all participants to have travel insurance to ensure they are adequately covered for their stay in Switzerland. If you live in Switzerland or Liechtenstein, you do not need to provide proof of health insurance.

Is payment in instalments available?

You can pay in two instalments. Once you have received your registration confirmation, simply transfer 50 per cent of the total amount to our account. The remaining 50 per cent must be received no later than 60 days before the event.

Are airport transfers provided?

We provide transfers from Zurich Airport and Zurich Main Station if you have provided us with your travel data at least one week before the event. As it’s the fastest option, transfers will usually be provided by public transport.

How can I pay the registration fee?

We accept payment by bank transfer in Euros (EUR) and Swiss francs (CHF). Please ensure that all payments are made free of charge to Leo Europa Forum 2027. If you are paying in Euros, we recommend using SEPA transfer to avoid transfer fees.
